[Poll] Video Quality

I hope this works, just implemented polls into the mix. Now this isn’t just for StrikerS but for all releases, for/from anyone. I don’t care. Just tell me what you like more!

Bear in mind that “LQ = First aired crappy quality raws.”, “MQ = Your standard xvid encode with all the standard stats” and “HQ = Your epic get off with bonus buffs to boot.” Excuse the MMO talk. And if you’ve already casted your vote in the forum post, please do so again in this one please!

Its been some days for this poll, but unfortunately i cant vote on it!! I pick an option and i press ‘Vote’ and then its loading forever and ever!!

  2. GRAvataer Ryvis on April 11th, 2007 at 8:18 am

The way the poll takes count is by IP and cookie insertion. So once you’ve clicked on it, your vote has already been recorded. The JS probably just failed to process the request for the results page. Your vote has been counted.

Hasty LQ+MQ when good and ready. In fact, Ep01’s LQ wasn’t too bad for me - I didn’t really notice much difference but DLed the MQ anyway. It was definitely better than a 400+MB raw I found for Ep02 (which looked like it was captured on a DVR with SLP MPEG-2 compression). Forget about HQ if you ask me - the improvement is small and if you use H264 compression, some computers can’t even handle it fast enough, including mine, and stutters.

Oh, and thanks for the work, guys!

i have a group that comes over to my house once a week for anime night. We rotate the 4 times a month into 4 different anime types. I was wanting to wait for atleast 3 or 4 StrikerS HD releases because i have a HD projector and you can tell the difference in picture quality. But if yesy doesnt want to hastle with finding HD raws then i can understand that and ill just show the MQ raws. Either way i just hope it doesnt get dropped because of the translation flamers….. damn flamers…. go shoot yourselves in the head for not learning gratitude from any point in life….

  5. GRAvataer Ryvis on April 11th, 2007 at 6:28 pm

Don’t worry, we’re not going to drop any more projects. Regarding your HD dilemma, we’re just waiting for the proper raws for HQ(HD perhaps?).

But, i suppose the MQ RAW of esp 2 had already been release quite sometimes. Y the subbed version is still up yet?????

But, i suppose the MQ RAW of esp 2 had already been release quite sometimes. Y the subbed version is still not* up yet?????

  8. GRAvataer G Force on April 11th, 2007 at 11:22 pm

It will come out when it comes out, and not a second before. Even if you knew the reason why it’s not out yet, unless you’re on the staff, I doubt that there is anything you can do about it. So be quiet and wait.

haha gary is so desperate its funny ~

  10. GRAvataer Aloreal on April 12th, 2007 at 7:53 am

But still, for the computer who can play the HQ, its an improvement. Besides, i saw a difference in the LQ and the MQ, so i humbly request a release of MQ and HQ if possible!!
Thanx for all the job up to know anyway!! :)

”haha gary is so desperate its funny ~”

lols, of course i m desperate. i been waiting for this anime for so longgggg~~~ now it’s finally release.. hahax.. but thr is still no sign of esp2 sub.. ~.~
But as far as i noe, i think that the fansun The-Triad, had release a (h264, mp4) version of StrikerS, i suppose it is a HQ version.. Wait till i DL it this afternoon n watch it. ^_^

  12. GRAvataer TekN0Slave on April 13th, 2007 at 2:15 pm

humbly requesting is like nicely begging… right…. :P

  13. GRAvataer obscue on April 13th, 2007 at 2:59 pm

As has being stated, please keep medium quality as some older computers such as mine can’t handle h264 (basically at least one xvid encode, medium or low is fine).

  14. GRAvataer random on April 13th, 2007 at 5:18 pm

I disagree with Kazuaki Shimazaki. I believe both HQ and MQ should be released. Those with computers unable to handle h264 (HQ) encodes will download the XviD version (MQ); those who wish to view the HQ version and have computers that can handle h264 decoding will download the HQ version… though HQ doesn’t necessarily have to be encoded with h264. That way everyone will get what he/she wants. Unless someone wants a LQ version… which presents a different problem. Anyway, I suppose it’s ultimately up to the yesy staff to decide.

  15. GRAvataer Kazuaki Shimazaki on April 14th, 2007 at 3:05 am

On the other hand, people without h264 can also watch the LQ. It was really quite adequate. Besides, MQ and HQ versions will be released almost simultaneously so they’d use the same translation. LQ and MQ/HQ versions will be created days apart, so the fansub team has time to refine the translation for the 2nd release with the experience of a full 1st release translation. The options were listed that way, but my priority was really on a “Fast Draft”+Edited Good Copy rather than the compression used on the “Good Copy” - I just got a new computer that would end my troubles with H264 anyway…

  16. GRAvataer none on April 15th, 2007 at 5:22 pm

    At Kazuaki Shimazaki:

IMO the LQ is sucky… but that is up for you to decide. As for your argument about a 1st copy and 2nd copy, another way it can be viewed is that the original airing of LQ could be the start of the translation, maybe the timing (doubtful). At any rate while the higher quality raws come out the translation can be refined, and finally when the MQ/HQ raw comes out all you need to do is time and QC. So, you can still get the same quality translation than an fast draft with edited.

If you look closely, the LQ just doesn’t cut it. Xvid is okay, but the lines are blurred compared with H.264. If you REALLY want to compare quality differences, use Yesy’s LQ and MQ and use Triad’s HQ of eps 1. It’s noticeable.

when might sub ep 2 come out?

  19. GRAvataer shinku on April 23rd, 2007 at 7:31 am

i hope that HQ version of the file can be released in avi. version

i dun care abt the size as long its avi. and not some mp4 lyk triad’s

  20. GRAvataer Ryvis on April 23rd, 2007 at 12:20 pm

Sorry but as I’ve explained previously, the HQ version will be using x264 and aac in a mpeg-4(mp4) container. If you want the best avi/xvid from us then you should stick with the MQ release.
