well, red x could have miscounted # of episodes, maybe he thought this was episode 25, or he thinks that yesy finishes 25 already, but has not released it yet. 26 is just aired recently so there’s no way yesy can start working on that right now

This is because the HQ Polyphonica is encoded using x264/AAC while the MQ is encoded using xvid/MP3. Since it is superior codecs more data can be stored at a lower cost, the offset is the viewer usually requires more resources to play back the file. Playing a xvid/MP3 video requires very little resources these days compared to an x264/AAC which does actually require a decent computer.

Yes, h264 decoding requires more hardware power than XviD decoding.

People are saying at the its going to end with something bad is going to happen and at the end (with narrator)going to say “See you in Season Four. Take Off” but I think thats just a rumor. The offical thing up there talks about the sound stage then the episode.

when I watched anime, I really like it if the fansub will leave some special terms or honorific in Japanese like Shichikouhouju(Elemental Gelade) or name-kun,-chan,-san,-sama, etc. The honorific is very important to me because it distinguish the level of politeness or friendliness of the speaker toward the one who is spoken.

Do you get the point of subs, hiango? It’s to provide an English, strictly ENGLISH translation. We don’t use honorifics like the Japanese do. If you want to know it that badly, just listen. That’s what I do anyway, it’s not hard. -_-
I just watch the show, read the subs, and enjoy WHITE DEVIL befriending the crap out of her enemies at the speed of light.

It’s a longstanding Nanoha nickname/joke, based off of a similar nickname from the original Mobile Suit Gundam; specifically, that Nanoha is very similar to the original Gundam, which pretty much slaughtered any Zeon military vehicle (mobile suit, ship, fighter, tank, etc) it came across, often in a massive volley of beam weapon fire, just like Nanoha.
Nanoha simply “befriends” any and all of her foes, in a similar “What the hell is that little white-clad girl doi-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH BEAM SPAM I AM PWNED!!!” manner.
… Events in A’s and StrikerS just reinforce the WHITE DEVIL nickname, sequentially upgrading Nanoha’s abilities with Gundam capabilities from subsequent series in the UC-era Gundam franchise; for example, it’s almost painfully obvious by the end of StrikerS that Nanoha Takamachi is essentially the magical equivalent of the RX-93 Hi/NU Gundam.
Won’t say any more, because that’d be spoilers.
Personally, I’m of the impression that the Nanoha crew (it’s noted that the creator of the original Nanoha is a Super Robot Taisen fanatic) wanted to make a hot-blooded “real robot” mecha anime, but got given a “maho shojo” remake of Lyrical Toy Box instead.
And proceeded to twist and bend the hell out of the concept they were given, to create what they actually wanted to make.
It seems to have worked.

I have the strangest feeling that StrikerS isn’t the last we’ve seen of the Nanoha anime series. Not by a long shot.
… If they’re following the George Lucas model, we’ll possibly see some prequels (Zest/Quint or first Book of Darkness eras? Ancient Mid-Childa?) sometime within the next decade. Maybe we’ll see The Phantom Loli and Revenge Of The Scaglietti sometime?

I was actually thinking The Phantom Loli and Revenge of the Scaglietti would be prequel titles… The Phantom Loli specifically detailing the formation of Zest’s squad/the raid on the first Combat Cyborg facility and the subsequent rescue of Subaru and Ginga, while Revenge of the Scaglietti would show the destruction of Zest’s squad/Quint’s funeral etc.
Of course, Attack Of The Gadgets would be between them, and be about the introduction of the first early Gadgets (the slasher claw spider types).
There, perfect Lucasfilm prequel trilogy.
And the Sound Stages/manga would be Expanded Universe stuff.
Even more Lucas parallels there.
I can only shudder at the thought of filling 13-episode seasons with such shallow concepts… but I suppose it’s doable.
Personally, I wasn’t impressed with the prequel trilogy from Lucasfilms. Milking the money cow with angsty story extensions has been done before.
I was more thinking a small OAV series, maybe 1-2 episodes per prequel concept.
Doable, and with much less budget/effort to boot.

From Wikipedia MGLN article: “It was announced at AnimeExpo 2007 that Lyrical Nanoha and its sequel, Lyrical Nanoha A’s, have been licensed by Geneon for English language distribution; however, Geneon has since ceased distribution of DVDs in North America, and an English language release seems uncertain.”

Yeah, heard about that. Apparently Dentsu, Geneon’s parent company, is reporting an aggregated 5.1 *billion* yen (14.3 billion if you count their dissolvement of the D&T partnership) loss this quarter. I’m guessing they’re not going to last much longer.
… I guess we don’t have to worry about them coming down on fansubs for the time being.

Well, it took 12 days for StrikerS 24 to be released, after episode 23.
… We’re currently about 8-9 days into the wait for episodes 25-26.
Just to put it all into perspective; we haven’t been waiting *that* long, considering. Yesy still has 4 more days until we can start bitching in earnest, so relax, guys.
At least it’s not Duke Nukem Forever.

Doesn’t matter if they made purified WIN and AWESOME; you overextend your company too much, you lose money in the long run, either through downsizing or bankruptcy.
Dentsu apparently did just that, both with D&T and Geneon, and now everything is sort of catching up to them. As for Bleach, one anime show, no matter how popular, can’t keep an entire commercial conglomerate (especially one as huge as Dentsu is) going indefinitely. In the big scheme of things, the money it brings in is just too little to keep everything afloat, so either they toss lots of stuff overboard (Geneon, D&T, etc) or the whole ship sinks, so to speak.
Hi is right, one product won’t keep a company going. That’s why company’s tend to release new products every few months (or license new shows, such as Anime)
Anime however is a very BIG seller and can keep a company going for months PROVIDED it’s popular.
Anime’s suck as Cardcaptor Sakura kept CLAMP going for a very long time, not only was it a hit in their native country, but also here in the US.
Dentsu finally found their breaking limit, and shattered it. Now they have to recover and hopefully Geneon will return some day, but now is not the day.

Although given some of the fairly dire indicators (stopping all DVD production/sales, not even supporting released content or faulty product returns, etc) coming out of Geneon, I’m a bit more pessimistic.
Might be that Dentsu got in over its head entering the anime business altogether, and now they want out for good.
Either way, I don’t think this bodes well for seeing Nanoha content officially released outside Japan.

It took them 12 days to release the last episode, and it’s only been about 10 days since then so far. They haven’t even exceeded their last episode-to-episode release time.

Geneon’s not doing *anything* concrete with their properties, much less looking to sell rights; subtitling work proceeds on both Nanoha series, but if anything will come of it in the near future, we won’t know.
They aren’t selling off something they’re still paying for subbing on, right?
On the other hand, they’re “looking into” distribution options. Which means absolutely nothing, because we all know what “looking into” usually ends up meaning (i.e. absolutely nothing) in corporate circles.
I’m not holding out too much hope. They’ve left a lot of properties hanging in a very abrupt move that usually signals an entertainment company’s immediate death, and until they start actually pressing/selling DVDs again, I won’t believe they’re anything more than a corporate entity in name only.
